Gaudi was unsuccessful in the design of this park because there was no public transportation access to it. We climbed thousands of steps to get to this spot, the view was great, but we were surrounded by half a million tourists doing the same. It seems Gaudi was more successful at performance, bringing attention to his love of Christianity and his love of struggle. The difficult design of Sagrada Family keeps it incomplete well past his death and the difficult climb to this park contributed to its own failure during its inception. Maybe Gaudi was his own worst enemy, and maybe he was aware that this was the most interesting thing about his work.
